WEDDING GUIDE

GOOD TO MEET YOU!

Thank you so much for getting in touch. I’ll check my availability for your date and will email to say hello and let you know if I’m free. For now, read on below for full costs and frequently asked questions…

MY ETHOS

I started out photographing weddings because I love taking pictures of people. As simple as that. I wanted to capture an image that said something about that person, at that very moment in time. That’s the driving force behind my work. Being able to see people on one of the most emotional, intense, enjoyable and important days of their life is a total privilege. I want your photographs to be a part of the rest of your lives together. I want you to sit and look at them with your family, to laugh and cry at them. I want them to always remind you how much you love each other.

SOME OF MY FAVS

Humour, emotion and
warmth.
A few things
I love.

EMOTION

Speaking of love… I think what really makes my work stand out from the crowd is an ability to capture emotion in a still image. It seems like it should be quite simple, but in reality there’s only a split second between a good photograph and a great one.

RELAXED

When we’re doing portraits, I keep things relaxed and fun. I let couples focus on one another rather than pose awkwardly for the camera.

I break up portrait sessions throughout the day too, so you’re not away from the party for too long – and it means you get a whole range of beautiful light and atmosphere in your images.

MEMORIES

A wedding is like having a year’s worth of moments in one day. I want to give you pictures that don’t just remind you how you looked, but how much you laughed and how you felt. The majority of my work on a wedding day is quietly documenting those fleeting things that can be gone in a second – a look, a glance, a laugh, a tear.

ME

According to my wife Zoe, I’m a relaxed, friendly and funny person. If I’m not at a wedding or editing, then chances are I’ll be playing with my kids, taking my dog for a walk, or cooking up something nice for dinner. I know, it’s pretty rock and roll.

When I was little my dad had a darkroom at home, so I’ve grown up immersed in the world of photography. For 10 years I worked for the BBC, making programmes about people. I filmed and directed documentaries all around the world and I learnt a lot about storytelling, about recording events without influencing them.

This background in professional documentary filming means I’m able to let people be themselves, let them show their emotion and be ready to document it at that split second that really matters.

FREEDOM & CHOICE

Most of my couples choose the All Day package so they can relax on the day and not have to think about the time. It covers from well before your wedding ceremony right through to some awesome dancefloor action. That means you get a great story of your wedding day and can relax and enjoy yourselves while I get amazing pictures. I also like to give my clients something extra. So, from your online gallery you can download any of your files, in full resolution, for free. And so can your friends and family.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do we meet you before booking?

After reading through this brochure, couples usually let me know that they’d like to book me in or that they’d like to set up a zoom to say hello. If you have any questions that aren’t answered here then we can arrange a quick zoom to run through your plans!

Do you have insurance?

Absolutely. I’m fully insured with one of the industry’s leading photographic insurers. My policy details are included in my online contract, and I have both Public Liability insurance and Professional Indemnity Insurance.

How late do you stay?

The Simple package has 6 hours of coverage and the All Day package runs from 1.5 hours before the ceremony to at least 1 hour after the First Dance / Music start so it fits perfectly around your plans. The Everything package starts 2 hours before the ceremony and finishes at 10pm, which is usually around 2 hours after the first dance.

Can you save a date for us?

A date is saved once a couple complete their contract and pay the booking fee. I get a lot of enquiries for most dates so please don’t wait too long to let me know you’d like to work with me, as your date may get booked. Once we’ve completed the contract you’ll get access to my Welcome Guide which has lots of information about planning your wedding day and hints and tips on what works well!

What do we get after the wedding?

Couples receive a fast preview within a few days of the wedding. When they receive their preview email they will also be given a date that their full gallery will be ready by, usually within 4 weeks. There are a minimum of 500 photographs from the popular All Day package. Your personal highlights slideshow and gallery are delivered via an easily accessible private webpage you can share with your friends and family. Your full resolution files can be downloaded directly from your gallery.

Do you do family group shots?

Definitely! I recommend couples keep these to their nearest and dearest so it doesn’t eat into their reception time too much. I ask for a list of the groups when we have our planning consult before the wedding, so I can make sure they’re managed effectively on the day.

Do you always work on your own?

I work on my own for about 95% of the weddings I photograph. The only time I advise couples that I should provide a second photographer is if the wedding has more than 200 guests or if there are specific time constraints on the day which prevent me from photographing everything that you would like documented. I find that guests relax more and don’t feel overly scrutinised when there’s just one photographer. I aim to be very discreet and unobtrusive and working on my own is part of what allows me to do that.

Do you give us colour or black & white pictures?

I supply a mixture of colour and black & white images, based on what I feel works best for a particular image or sequence of images, but I do say to all my couples that I’m very happy to supply a small number of images in alternate versions if they have particular ones they want in both styles. I also do ‘natural retouching’ to images – removing blemishes etc, but with the idea that you wouldn’t know anything has been done, so that it doesn’t look over the top.

Do you have a contract? Is there a booking fee?

Yes I have an online contract system which is really simple and easy to use. I send clients a link, they fill it in and sign electronically. Painless and paper free. Along with the contract, a booking fee of £450 secures the date and the remaining balance is due 6 weeks before the wedding.
