A beautiful DIY countryside wedding – wedding photography Somerset

As a photographer I do a lot of wedding photography in Somerset and I’ve had the privilege of witnessing so many incredible celebrations and today it’s the turn of V and H! Their wedding was one of those amazing days—full of love, joy, and personal touches that made it truly unforgettable. Held in the beautiful countryside of Somerset, this wedding took place in the groom’s parents’ stunning garden. I absolutely love photographing weddings in such intimate, personal locations—it really brings a sense of warmth and authenticity to the day. The garden, with its lush greenery and soft summer sunlight, set the perfect backdrop for this DIY celebration.

From the moment I arrived, it was clear that V and H’s wedding was going to be something special. These two are an absolute dream to photograph—so kind, so relaxed, and deeply in love with each other. It’s always such a joy to capture the candid moments that show their true personalities and love for one another. The quiet moments they shared, just the two of them, as they exchanged vows—it was magic.

The DIY touches were scattered all over the wedding, each detail reflecting the couple’s personalities. From the beautiful flowers decorating the tables to the homemade treats and craftily designed signs, it was clear that this was a wedding built with love and care. You could feel the sense of community as family and friends came together to make the day as special as possible for V and H. The decorations were perfect, but it was the heartfelt effort that really made the day shine.

There was something so refreshing about the vibe of the whole day—casual, relaxed, and full of life. No pretense, just genuine fun. You could feel the happiness in the air, and it was evident that everyone there was genuinely thrilled to be part of this celebration. From the speeches, an amazing first dance and even a fantastic wedding cake pinata – it was just brilliant. As a documentary wedding photographer, I get to capture weddings in a way that tells the true story of the day—no posing, no staged moments, just real, raw emotions. I think one of the greatest joys of being a documentary photographer is that I can step back and capture the essence of the day without interrupting or directing the flow. It allows me to focus on the little moments—the sneaky glances, the shared laughter, the quiet moments of reflection. These are the moments that tell the real story of the wedding.

For V and H, it meant that the real moments—the stolen glances between them, the quiet conversations with family, the laughter of their friends—could all be documented as they happened. The photos that result from this style of photography are timeless, full of personality, and will forever tell the story of a day that was uniquely theirs. .. enjoy!
