On a slightly cold November morning I travelled down to St Ives in Cornwall to meet up with Verity and Michael and shoot my first ever elopement. I was so excited to get to be a part of such a special occasion and felt very honoured to be their photographer. For the uninitiated, an elopement is basically when two people get married on their own, with just a witness or two to tick the legal boxes. So on the day itself I photographed a bit of the getting ready, the legal ceremony and then we spent a lovely couple of hours of wandering around St Ives shooting portraits. I’ve not been to St Ives for years but what a perfect place to elope to. So many gorgeous little areas around the town, and we found some gorgeous beaches and rocks explore too. We definitely got a little lucky with the weather, but even at the start of the day when it was raining heavily the atmosphere and views were still beautiful. I hope I get to photograph another elopement soon as it was so much fun to do. Thanks guys x
Wow lovely stuff!! I haven’t shot an elopement yet, looks idyllic though, no time constraints or GROUP shots. Think they’ll become more popular too given the current climate.
Sam you shot our sons wedding in March at River cottage,it was a magical day and the photos are so beautiful. That day was so full of love and happiness you could feel it on the day and in your photographs.
Thank you so much we were so lucky to have Such a lovely day to look back on in this troubled time.
