I met up last weekend with ben + gilly who are getting married in a few weeks’ time in the most picture perfect village church I think I’ve ever seen. We also went for a wander in the gorgeous west sussex countryside and took some pictures while we were there. I don’t tend to do lots of engagement shoots, as I’ll often tell the couples I work with that they don’t need to do one. The way I work on the wedding day means I quickly put people at ease and the beauty of documentary photography is that I just want people to be themselves – you don’t need to ‘practice’ that beforehand. But I actually love doing these shoots because it’s a chance to capture some interesting and beautiful portraits which is something I really enjoy – I try to focus on capturing something of the relationship between a couple, rather than making people pose for me too much… anyway, enough waffling – here are three of my favourites:
