In this fourth instalment of Friday Finds I wanted to share with you this image from a gorgeous wedding at Barnsley House in the Cotswolds. I often photograph quite intimate weddings. My ability to blend in and record the day without intruding on the wedding is especially useful when, as in this case, you only have 15 guests. This moment was caught during the speeches. Everyone was seated around a single, large table and I was crouched down photographing the speaker when I noticed that one of the guests was just about to wipe a tear from her eye. It’s not a moment of overt emotion perhaps, but is a subtle record of the speech and the impact it had on her, and I like it all the more for that. The surreptitious dabbing at the corner of her eye is such a universal gesture too – we’ve all been there at one time or another.
